Class Procedure:

a.)Make this story your own.  You can change anything you want in it.  This is just a template to a story

You are in your bed trying to fall asleep.  You flip from left to right and stare at the ceiling for a while.  Everything about your day is being replayed in your mind and you would give anything to just fall asleep and escape to la la land.  Then, out of no where, something hits you in the forehead.  Unsure of what it is, you quickly sit up  and scan the room for anyone or anything.  As you go to grab the flash light that you have hidden under your bed, you sit back back up and  a little voice greets you with, “hello”.  You answer, “Who’s here?  Who are you?  Where are you?”  The little voice says, “I am ________and I am the prince  of _________.  I am down here!”  You look down and you still cannot see where this little voice is coming from.  “I apologize , but I think I’m going crazy.  Where are you?”  All of a sudden you feel something that hits you on your chin.  You look down and see a little man sitting on your knee.

*What hit you in the forehead and chin? Why did this prince come and find you?  Where is he taking you?  What does he look like?  Add as much detail as possible.  “Paint the picture!”THE MORE DETAILS THE BETTER!

You just got ship wrecked and you are out at sea on a raft alone. There is nothing in sight but never ending waves.  In the distance you see a ________ colored object.  As it floats towards you, with every roll of the wave, it appears to look like __________.  Yet, the closer it gets to you, you notice that it is really a ___________.   As your raft drifts closer and closer the object slowly becomes in your reach.  You stick your hand out into the water and you grab it.

*what happens?  How did you get shipwrecked in the first place?  Was there anyone with you on your trip prior to being shipwrecked?  Where are they?  Explain what the sky, raft, and the ocean looks like.    Was the object that you grabbed big or small?  Was it easy or hard to take out of the water?  What was the texture of this object?  How did it feel in your hands?  Does this object help you find safety?  Is this object magical?  Is it practical?  How do you want your story to end?  THE MORE DETAILS THE BETTER!

d.) Make this story your own.  You can change anything you want in it.  This is just a template to a story.

You are cornered by a _________ in a pitch black room and even though you don’t know how you got there or what is chasing you, all you know is that you have to get out.  Describe what you are feeling as you are stuck in this position.  Describe what you touch that is surrounding you.  Describe what you hear in the room.  Describe the feeling this villain is giving you.  Can you hear the villain?  What does it sound like?  Describe what you think is chasing you and why you think it is chasing you.  Describe  how you try to escape it. . . and IF you escape it.  THE MORE DETAILS THE BETTER!!!

e.) Make this story your own.  You can change anything you want in it.  This is just a template to a story.

As you are walking down main street, you see a mysterious, smiling old man with a Saint Mary hat on.  You continue to walk on your path and happen to glance in his direction again for you feel that maybe you know him.  In the matter of a second, he is across the street.  Bewildered by this, you refocus on the path in front of you.  As your eyes meet his, you now know there is something magical about this man.  You think to yourself, “How could he ever move that fast, and now he is standing in front of me?”  Without him saying a word, he takes off his hat and _________________________.

*Complete the story about the mysterious man and what magic he brings to your day.  Why did he chose you?  Why is he wearing a Saint Mary hat?

Conclusion: How can you tell the difference between an on line predator and an on line friend?  You can’t.  So don’t trust anyone you meet online.
